Mizoram: 10 NDRF, four Assam Rifles personnel among 22 new COVID-19 positive cases

With the 22 new COVID-19 positive cases the total number of cases in Mizoram rose to 186.

Mizoram on Sunday reported 22 new COVID-19 positive cases, including 10 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel and four Assam Rifles personnel, taking the total number of cases in the state to 186, official sources said.

According to an update posted by Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Mizoram on Twitter, the 22 new cases are among those 465 samples tested on Saturday.

The DIPR said that of the 22 new cases, 14 cases were reported from Aizawl and four cases each from Siaha and Lawngtlai.

"Out of 465 samples tested on 4.7.2020, 22 samples (M-19, F-3) tested positive for #COVID19. 14 positive samples are from Aizawl, 4 from Siaha, 4 from Lawngtlai. District-wise no. of samples tested: Aizawl 274, Champhai 5, Lawngtlai 50, Mamit 30, Saitual 6, Siaha 100," DIPR Mizoram tweeted on Sunday.

Of the 14 new positive cases in Aizawl, 10 are from 1st NDRF E-2 team, stationed at Lungverh while the other four are Assam Rifles personnel stationed at Zokhawsang, the DIPR said in another tweet.

Meanwhile, two more persons were discharged from Khawzawl District Hospital on Sunday, making Khawzawl the 5th district in Mizoram with no active cases. Other districts with zero cases are Hnahthial, Saitual, Kolasib and Serchhip.

With the new discharged cases, a total of 130 patients recovered from COVID-19 while the number of active cases stands at 56.

On Saturday, two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel posted at Lunglei district tested positive for COVID-19.
