The daily COVID-19 case count in Manipur surged to 20 on Monday from Sunday's 16, while one more COVID-19 patient from Imphal West died, official sources said.
The 20 new COVID-19 cases were among the 1,790 samples tested on Monday and the positivity rate is 1.1 per cent. With these new positive cases, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload reached 1,25,843. A total of 14,64,345 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in Manipur. The death toll rose to 2,004, the sources said.
According to the latest release by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room, Imphal East reported nine new COVID-19 positive cases. Seven cases were reported from Imphal West, two from Senapati, (including one CAPF personnel) and one each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The COVID-19 victim had comorbidities and was not vaccinated, as per the release.
The state also recorded five new recoveries on Monday, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,23,610. The recovery rate is 98.22 per cent and the number of active cases surged to 229 as of Monday, as per the release.
As of January 2, a total of 100 D-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release stated.
The total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 23,16,632 (first dose: 13,25,166 second dose: 9,91,446) across the state, the release added.
