Manipur's daily COVID-19 tally drops to 19

COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur on Saturday, taking the death toll to 1,970.

Manipur's daily COVID-19 tally dropped to 19 on Saturday from Friday's 28 and the state's tally reached 1,25,117 while the death toll mounted to 1,970 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 1.2 per cent.

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Saturday were from Imphal West and Thoubal. Of the two deceased, one had co-morbidities and both were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 11 and seven cases respectively and one case was reported from Churachandpur.

The state also recorded 18 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,474. The recovery rate is 97.89 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 673 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 382 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 72 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,32,564 (first dose: 12,76,049 second dose: 8,56,515). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 54.51 per cent and for second dose is 36.59 per cent, it mentioned.
