Manipur's daily COVID-19 tally dips to 39

COVID-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur on Wednesday.

Manipur on Wednesday recorded 36 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,046 while the death toll mounted to 1,965 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 2.1 per cent.

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday were from Imphal West and Bishnupur. Both the deceased had co-morbidities and were not vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 20 and 14 cases respectively. Two cases were reported from Bishnupur and one each from Kakching, Churachandpur and Ukhrul.

The state also recorded 26 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,383. The recovery rate is 97.87 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 698 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 594 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 126 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,17,663 (first dose: 12,72,954 second dose: 8,44,718). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 54.38 per cent and for second dose is 36.08 per cent, it mentioned.
