Manipur's COVID-19 tally on Sunday reached 1,26,156 as the daily case count continued to remain above the 50-mark, while the death toll mounted to 2,011 with one more fatality, official sources said.
On Friday, a total of 68 persons from the general population tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The new COVID-19 positive cases include 25 from Imphal East, 26 from Imphal west, four each from Thoubal and Kakching, seven from Senapati and one each from Kangpokpi and Chandel.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The COVID-19 death reported on Sunday was from Ukhrul. The deceased had comorbidities and was not vaccinated, it stated.
The state also recorded 12 new recoveries, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recoveries to 1,23,676. The recovery rate fell to 98.03 per cent on Sunday from Saturday's 98.08 per cent and the number of active cases also surged to 469, the release stated.
The total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 23,48,089 ( first dose: 13,40,502 and second dose: 10,07,587).
As of January 8, a total of 157 D-type oxygen cylinders and 61 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release added.
