Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Tuesday surged to 1,25,007 with the addition of 50 new positive cases, according to the latest update by the state health department.

On Tuesday, a total of 2,146 test results were received of which 50 samples were found positive for COVID-19 and the day's positivity rate is 2.3 per cent.

Among the new COVID-19 positive cases recorded on Tuesday, 46 were from the general population and four personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

From the general population, 15 COVID-19 cases were from Imphal East, 18 from Imphal West, three each from Bishnupur and Chandel, two from Kangpokpi, and one case each from kakching, Kamjong, Senapati, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

COVID-19 also claimed one more life in Imphal West, pushing the state's death toll to 1,963. The deceased had no comorbidities and was not vaccinated, as per the release.

The state also recorded 40 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to 1,22,357 and the recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.

Manipur has 687 COVID-19 active cases as of Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a total of 726 D-type oxygen cylinders and 122 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, the release added.

It further stated that the cumulative number of people who have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur reached 21,12,237 (First dose: 12,71,884 Second dose: 8,40,353).
