Manipur's COVID-19 death toll surpasses 2000-mark

One more COVID-19 death was reported from Imphal East on Sunday. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated.

COVID-19 death toll in Manipur on Sunday surpassed the 2000-mark as the viral infection claimed one more life. The state also recorded 17 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,723, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 2.4 per cent.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Sunday is from Imphal West. The deceased had co-morbidities and was not vaccinated. With it, a total of 2,001 people have so far died in Manipur, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, six new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal West, another eight cases from Imphal East, and one each from Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal.

The state also recorded 16 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,23,524. The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent. Manipur now has 182 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 439 D-type oxygen cylinders and 89 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 22,95,405 (first dose: 13,19,028 second dose: 9,76,377). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 56.34 per cent and for the second dose is 41.71  per cent, it mentioned.
