Manipur's COVID-19 active tally rises to 62 with detection of 17 new positive cases

Five new COVID-19 cases were reported each from Imphal West and Imphal East, three each from Chandel and Thoubal and one from Bishnupur.

With the state reporting 17 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the active cases in the state have risen to 62, taking the state’s total positive cases to 1,37,323, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

Of the 17 positive cases, five were reported each from Imphal West and Imphal East, three each from Chandel and Thoubal and one from Bishnupur. The positivity rate is 7.5 per cent.

However, no death cases were reported thus confining the death toll at 2,120.

According to the latest update by the state health department, a total of 228 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur on Tuesday; the state has so far conducted 16,15,332 COVID-19 tests.

Four new COVID-19 recoveries were also recorded in the state on Tuesday thus taking the number of recovered cases t0 1,35,141; the recovery rate is 98.41 per cent.

Meanwhile, a total of 75 oxygen cylinders and four B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur as of July 4.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 29,68,946 (first dose: 15,94,481; second dose: 12,60,656 and precautionary dose: 1,13,809).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 61.98 per cent and for the second dose is 53.23 per cent, it mentioned.
