Manipur's COVID-19 active caseload drops to 596

Manipur reported 79 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, taking the state's confirmed tally to 1,38,468.

Manipur's COVID-19 active caseload on Saturday dropped to 596 from Friday's 644 as 127 new recoveries were recorded in the state, according to the latest update by the state health department.

On Saturday, the state recorded 79 new COVID-19 cases and zero death cases, pushing the state's total positive cases to 1,38,468 and confining the death toll at 2,124. The day's positivity rate also dropped to 7.7 per cent from Friday's 8.4 per cent.

Among the new COVID-19 cases, 27 were from Imphal West, 22 from Imphal East, eight from Churachandpur, five each from Kangpokpi and Thoubal, three from Tamenglong, two each from Bishnupur, Kakching and Ukhrul, and one each from Kamjong, Tengnoupal and Chandel.

As per the update, a total of 1,026 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Manipur on Saturday. Manipur has so far conducted 16,25,988 COVID-19 tests.

With the  127 new COVID-19 recoveries, the total number of recovered cases increased to 1,35,748 and the recovery rate is 98.4 per cent, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

Meanwhile, a total of 71 D-type oxygen cylinders and one B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur as of July 22.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 30,61,863 (first dose: 16,08,008 second dose: 12,79,627 and precautionary dose: 1,74,228).

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 62.14 per cent and for the second dose is 53.76 per cent, it mentioned.
