Manipur on Sunday recorded its highest single-day COVID-19 fatalities with 10 deaths and the confirmed caseload inched closer to the 25,000-mark, the state health department said.
The confirmed COVID-19 tally in Manipur, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room, is 24,910 (General Population - 21,828 and Central Security Personnel 3,082). As many as 160 persons (88 males and 72 females) from the general population and one personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in a span of 24 hours, it added.
The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West - 69, Imphal East - 26, Thoubal - 7, Bishnupur - 10, Kakching - 1, Tamenglong - 6, Ukhrul - 3, Senapati - 2, Kangpokpi - 4, Churachandpur - 21, Pherzawl - 1, Jiribam - 4 and Noney - 6.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Of the 10 new COVID-19 fatalities, four deaths are from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, and one each from Ukhrul, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi. The cumulative number of deaths is 273, the state health department said,
Meanwhile, the state recorded 198 more recoveries, pushing the total recoveries to 21,401 (General Population - 18,621 and Central Security Personnel - 2,780) and the recovery rate is 85.91 per cent.
The number of active cases is 3,236 (General Population - 2,938 and Central Security Personnel - 298), the state health department said, while adding that the cumulative number of persons under home isolation is 6,818, of which 5,434 have recovered while 1,099 are active.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
