Manipur: No new COVID-19 cases, but get vaccinated and wear masks

Manipur Health department urged people in the state to get complete Covid vaccine doses and follow Covid appropriate behavior, as infection due to new variant continues to surge in other parts of the world.

Manipur continued to report zero COVID-19 active counts as no new positive cases were detected from any of the test samples received from all districts of the state, health sources said on Thursday.

However, citizens have been cautioned to maintain Covid appropriate behavior and get complete Covid vaccine doses as infection by Covid variant BF.7 is reportedly surging in other parts of the world.

"In other parts of the world, Covid-19 cases due to variant BF.7 are increasing. Fortunately our country and state are not seeing any surge due to this variant. Still, the need for vigilance and precaution is needed, " a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The state health department appealed to the public to get complete doses of Covid vaccine, follow Covid appropriate behavior such as wearing of mask, social distancing and hand hygiene. It also urged the people to get tested if suffering from any flu or flu-like symptoms.For any queries, people can contact the state Helpline No 0385-2410009.

The state's cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed caseload remained 1,39,924, while the death toll stood at 2,149 as the state continued to report no new COVID-19 deaths till date. A total of 137775 recoveries have been reported as of Thursday.

So far, the number of Covid vaccine doses administered across the state rose to 326,8060 with 54 more doses administered on February 1. The number of first dose reached 1649187, second dose- 1338775 and precaution dose 280098, according to the state immunization officer, Manipur.

As many as 73 total samples were tested on Thursday. A total of 16,67,447 samples have been tested so far.
