Manipur on Thursday recorded as many as 77 new COVID-19 cases and one fatality, pushing the cumulative number of positive cases and death toll to 1,38,886 and 2,129 respectively, according to the latest update by the state health department.
On Thursday, a total of 808 samples were tested for COVID-19. Among the total people tested positive, 55 are males and 22 are females.
Of them, five cases were confirmed from RIMS, two JNIMS and 70 from other testing centres..
A release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated that the positive cases from the general population include 10 from Imphal East, 37 from Imphal West, three from Thoubal, four from Bishnupur, two form Kakching, one from Kangpokpi, three from Ukhrul, 13 from Churachandpur and four from Chandel.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The latest COVID-19 victim was from Imphal West who has no comorbidity and was not vaccinated.
As many as 101 persons were discharged on Thursday after completion of surveillance, increasing the number of recovered cases to 1,36,167. The number of active cases is 590 and the recovery rate is 98.04 per cent, it added.
