Manipur logs highest single-day spike of 1,128 new COVID-19 cases

In addition to the new COVID-19 cases, Manipur has also registered 10 deaths in a span of 24 hours.

Manipur on Friday reported another highest single-day spike of 1,128 new COVID-19 cases yet again, according to the latest updates from the state health department.

A total of 7,184 test results were received on Friday, of which 1,128 were found COVID-19 positive, pushing the state's COVID-19 caseload to 82,688. The cumulative number of test results received as of Friday is 9,89,283, the state health department said.

In addition to the new COVID-19 cases, Manipur also registered 10 deaths in a span of 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,350, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated. 

Imphal East and Imphal West continued the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases with 289 and 279 cases respectively. The other new COVID-19 cases included 125 from Churachandpur, 119 from Kakching, 96 from Bishnupur, 85 from Thoubal, 45 from Chandel, 30 from Jiribam, 19 from Kangpokpi, 15 from Tamenglong, 12 from Tengnoupal, seven each from Senapati and Ukhrul, and one Central Armed Police Force personnel, the release stated.  

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

While four deaths each were reported from Imphal East and Imphal West, one death each was reported from Jiribam and Kangpokpi, it stated.

Friday saw 643 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries to 72,305 till date. The number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 9,033 and 87.44 per cent, it stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,943 D-type oxygen cylinders and 302 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 9,83,206 (First dose: 8,76,349 and Second dose: 10,6,857).
