Manipur logs 36 new COVID-19 positive cases, two deaths

Manipur's COVID-19 tally reached 1,25,205 while the death toll mounted to 1,977 on Tuesday.

Manipur on Tuesday recorded 36 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,205 while the death toll mounted to 1,977 with two more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 1.7 per cent.

 

The two COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Tuesday were from Imphal West. One of the deceased had co-morbidities and both were vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room.

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 15 and nine cases respectively. Three cases each were reported from Churachandpur and Thoubal, two from Kakching and one each from Bishnupur, Chandel, Kangpokpi and Noney.

 

The state also recorded 40 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,579. The recovery rate is 97.90 per cent, the release added.

 

Manipur now has 649 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 385 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 50 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

 

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,50,883 (first dose: 12,80,974 second dose: 8,69,909).

 

The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 54.72 per cent and for second dose is 37.16 per cent, it mentioned.
