Manipur logs 31 new COVID-19 positive cases, one death

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 15 and 10 cases respectively.

Manipur on Saturday recorded 31 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,25,328 while the death toll mounted to 1,981 with one more fatality, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is two per cent.

The single COVID-19 fatality recorded on Saturday was from Imphal East. The deceased had co-morbidities and was fully vaccinated, according to a release issued by state COVID-19 Common Control Room. 

As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 15 and 10 cases respectively. Three cases were reported from Kakching and one each from Bishnupur, Senapati and Thoubal.

The state also recorded 34 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,985. The recovery rate is 98.13 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 362 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 493 D-type oxygen cylinders and 147 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,84,835 (first dose: 12,88,338 second dose: 8,96,479). The cumulative number of person who have been vaccinated in the state with first dose is 65.45 per cent and for second dose is 45.54 per cent, it mentioned.
