Manipur on Wednesday continued to witness a downtrend in single-day COVID-19 positive cases with 110 new cases, including three personnel of the Central Armed Police Force. On Tuesday, the number of new COVID-19 positive cases was 159. Monday recorded 178 while it was 235 cases on Sunday.
Six persons aged 75-year-old female from Imphal West, a 56-year-old male from Imphal East, 75-year-old female from Thoubal, 52-year-old male, 77-year-old male and a 27-year-old male from Imphal East died on Wednesday. With it, the cumulative number of death rose to is 231, a release from the state COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The release stated that the 107 positive cases from the general population included 37 from Imphal West 16 from Imphal East, seven from Thoubal, six from Bishnupur, 15 from Kakching, two from Ukhrul, nine from Tamenglong, three each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, six from Chandel and one each from Tengnoupal, Jiribam and Senapati. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
Meanwhile, 194 more people have recovered. With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases reached 19,259 (General Population 16,556 and Central Security Personnel – 2,703). The recovery rate is 86.29 per cent.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 22.318 (General Population -- 19,401 and Central Security Personnel 2.917) and that of active cases is 2.828 (General Population - 2,618 and Central Security Personnel - 210).
Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves.
