India's single-day COVID-19 tally drops to 1,968, lowest in 133 days

The number of COVID-19 active cases also dropped to 34,598 on Tuesday, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry.

India's single-day COVID-19 tally on Tuesday dropped to 1,968, the lowest in 133 days, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The number of active cases also dropped to 34,598 on Tuesday. Active cases constitute 0.8 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.

The death toll climbed to 5,28,716 with 15 more fatalities in 24 hours hours, while the cumulative number of recovered cases increased to 4,40,36,152 with 3,481 new recoveries. The recovery rate is 98.74 per cent as on Tuesday.

As many as 89,59,58,696 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in India, including 2,09,801 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.29 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 0.94 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,18,80,50,600, including 21,43,97,436 precaution doses.
