India's COVID-19 active caseload dips to 39,583

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.44 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.23 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

India logged 3,947 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's tally to 4,45,87,307 while the death toll surged to 5,28,629 with 18 more fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The number of active cases further dropped to 39,583 from Thursday's 40,750. Active cases constitute 0.9 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Health Ministry said.

India also recorded 5,096  new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 4,40,19,095 and the recovery rate is 98.72 per cent as on Friday.

As many as 89,50,54,503 COVID-19 tests have so far been conducted in India, including 3,20,734 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, as per the Health Ministry.

While the weekly positivity rate in the country was recorded at 1.44 per cent, the daily positivity rate was reported to be 1.23 per cent, the ministry added.

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 2,18,17,94,748, including 20,88,63,915 precaution doses.
