India logs 9,283 new COVID-19 cases, tally surges to 3,45,35,763

India on Wednesday recorded 9,283 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the cumulative number of confirmed  COVID-19 cases in the country to 3,45,35,763, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

The daily positivity rate  is 0.80 per cent, less than 2 per cent for the last 51 days. The country continued the trend of less than 50,000 daily new cases that is being reported for 150 consecutive days now, the ministry stated.

The recovery of 10,949 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients  to 3,39,57,698 and India’s recovery rate stands at 98.33 per cent, it stated.

With these new recoveries, the COVID-19  active caseload in India dropped further to 1,11,481 on Wednesday, lowest in 537 days. The COVID-19 active cases presently constitute 0.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

India also recorded 437 deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,66,584.

Meanwhile, with the administration of 76,58,203 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has reached 1,18,44,23,573 on Wednesday.
