Government prepared for any pandemic: Manipur Health Minister Sapam Ranjan

Manipur reported no new detection of covid-19 positive cases in the sample test results received daily for the past several days, and 32,68,418 total people have been administered the Covid vaccine in the state as per the latest update.

Manipur Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has lauded the state health staff for their active role in containing the Covid pandemic in the state, and said the government is now prepared for any pandemic.

The minister was speaking as chief guest at the foundation day celebration of Jivan Hospital, Kakching, Manipur on Wednesday.

It may be mentioned that Manipur today has zero active COVID-19 cases with no new detection of covid-19 positive cases in the sample test results received daily for the past several days.

According to the Health department, the state’s cumulative COVID-19 confirmed caseload stood at 1,39,924, including 2,149 deaths as of Thursday. The state reported no Covid deaths for the past several months.

A total of 1,37,775 people infected with the illness have recovered till date, and the recovery rate stood at 98.46 per cent. Altogether, 67,774 recovered while in home isolation.

So far, 16,67,733 total Covid-19 tests have been conducted across the state, and 32,68,418 total people have been administered the Covid vaccine as of February 7, 2023 (First dose: 16,49,235. Second dose: 1338866. Precaution dose: 2,80,317) A total of 100 people were vaccinated on February 7.

The health minister urged the health staff to continue working with commitment for the welfare of the people in the state.

Maintaining that the government is relentlessly working to improve the healthcare system in the state, the minister said many welfare health schemes have been launched at the central and state level, including schemes like PMJAY, CMHT and the Chief Minister’s Health for All.

In a bid to improve the healthcare system in Manipur, state Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh has called for coordination between public and private health sector and stressed on improving the primary healthcare system.

"Without improving the primary healthcare system, tertiary healthcare will be hardly improved," the minister said.

Stressing the support of private hospitals for bringing a better healthcare system in the state, he said the endeavour of the private hospitals also needs to be encouraged.

Dr Ranjan also said there has been a turning point in the healthcare system in the past few years. Information Technology enabled service to the private and public sectors have become a new trend, he said.

Certificates and mementos were also distributed to outstanding performers of Jiven hospital as a part of the celebration, which was also attended by Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, director, Health Services Manipur, Dr Nepram Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS, as president and guest of honour respectively.

Jivan Hospital Managing director Yengkhom Ashokumar Singh was also present at the hospital foundation day celebration.
