A non-local, who was declared COVID-19 positive by RT-PCR test at Babina Diagnostic Centre on Tuesday, was reportedly declared COVID-19 negative following a Rapid Antigen Test conducted at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) casualty on the same day.
The person was residing at a rented house at Nagamapal Paonam leikai. Local clubs and COVID-19 response committee of Nagamapal Paonam Leikai handed over the person to the Health department for treatment and observation on Wednesday.
A release issued by club leader of Nagamapal Paonam leikai, Lalitchandra Soibam on Thursday stated that the person did not disclose his COVID-19 test results detected by Babina Diagnostic Centre on September 8 and went for a health check-up for cough and cold at RIMS on the same day.
The release stated that doctors at RIMS casualty ward conducted Rapid Antigen Test and found that the patient was found negative for COVID-19. Afterwards, the patient was given some basic flu medicine and he left the hospital for his rented home at Lai Eshing Chaiba, Nagamapal Paonam Leikai.
Later, when the police started searching for the patient at Thangal bazar based on the address mentioned in the test report of Babina Diagnostic Centre, he was not found. Thereafter, the Health department contacted a member of COVID-19 response committee of Nagamapal Paonam Leikai, Khuraijam Athouba.
On Wednesday, local clubs of Paonam leikai conducted a massive search operation and found the patient at a rented house of the locality, said the release.
