COVID-19 claimed four more lives in Manipur, pushing the death toll to 1,975 while the state's tally surged to 1,25,169 with the addition of 17 new COVID-19 positive cases on Monday, according to the latest update by the state health department. The positivity rate is 1.4 per cent.
Of the four COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Monday, two were from Imphal West (one from Myanmar) and one each from Imphal East and Ukhrul. One of the deceased had comorbidities and none was vaccinated, according to a release issued by State COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As per the release, Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with six and seven cases respectively and two cases each were reported from Kamjong and Ukhrul.
The state also recorded 43 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,22,539. The recovery rate is 97.90 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 655 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 318 D-type oxygen cylinders and 75 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine has reached 21,42,921 (first dose: 12,78,871 second dose: 8,64,050). The cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state with the first dose is 54.63 per cent and for the second dose is 36.91 per cent, it mentioned.
