COVID-19 claimed 22 more lives in Manipur in a span of 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 1,309, official sources said.

Of the COVID-19 fatalities recorded in the state on Tuesday, Imphal West and Kakching reported five deaths each. Four deaths were from Bishnupur, three from Imphal East, two from Chandel and one death each from Kangpokpi, Thoubal and Churachandpur, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

On Tuesday, a total of 4,961 test results were received, of which 796 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received as of Tuesday is 9,67,449, the state health department said.

With the new COVID-19 positive cases, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 79,417, the release stated.

The new COVID-19 positive cases included 165 from Imphal West, 199 from Imphal East, 120 from Churachandpur, 80 from Bishnupur, 78 from Thoubal, 47 from Kakching, 24 from Senapati, 19 from Ukhrul, 16 from Tamenglong, 13 from Kangpokpi, 12 from Jiribam, eight from Chandel, three each from Kamjong and Tengnoupal, and one from Pherzawl. The remaining eight cases are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

Meanwhile, 588 new recoveries pushed the state's cumulative number of recovered cases to 70,402, leaving the recovery rate at 88.64 per cent. The number of COVID-19 active cases in the state stands at 7,706 as of Tuesday, as per the release.

The release further stated that a total of 1,940 D-type oxygen cylinders and 379 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 8,90,643 (First dose: 7,94,672 and second dose: 95,971).
