Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Thursday surged to 28,188 with 51 new positive cases, while the death toll mounted to 355 as the novel coronavirus claimed one more life, the state health department said.
As per the latest updates from the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 48 of the new positive cases are from the general population while three are Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.
One person, aged 77, from Bishnupur district died at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal in the last 24 hours, the state health department said.
The new positive cases from the general population included 24 from Imphal West, nine from Imphal East, 10 from Bishnupur, three from Tamenglong, and one each from Thoubal and Senapati, it stated.
All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered cases in Manipur increased to 26,678 with 77 new recoveries and the recovery rate improved to 94.64 per cent. With it, the number of active cases is 1,155, the state health department said.
Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818; for home isolation-related cases, one can dial the home isolation helpline numbers- 0385-2414009 (State head quarter) and - 8415944151 (Thoubal), the state health services stated.
One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website - www.esanjeevaniopd.in.
The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing.
