Chief Minister N Biren Singh had an extensive discussion about the present COVID-19 situation in the state with the RIMS authority, doctors and nurses at RIMS Jubilee Hall, Lamphelpat on Friday.
The discussion was attended by Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba, advisor to CM (Health), Dr Sapam Ranjan, principal secretary (Health), Vumlunmang Vualnam, director of RIMS, PA Santa and medical superintendent of RIMS, Ch Arunkumar along with doctors and nurses.
Speaking at the occasion, N Biren appreciated the doctors, nurses and other para-medical staff for their relentless dedication to duty during the crucial days of COVID-29 pandemic. He said that the medical professionals are fighting effectively to tackle the deadly virus like soldiers fighting in the borders to protect the country’s sovereignty.
The chief minister said that the main purpose of his interaction with the doctors and nurses was to identify the prime reason for rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the past few days.
“As experts are predicting that the pandemic may peak in December or January in the state as well, the state must be prepared in advance on how to control the spread of COVID-19. The RIMS authority should find a way to increase the number of COVID-19 beds with ventilators,” said the CM.
Stating that he would soon apprise the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare about the urgent need to increase the number of COVID-19 beds in the hospital, he asked the RIMS authority to begin the process of engagement for manpower requirement and purchase equipment with the funds in hand.
