All Manipur COVID Warriors Association (AMCWA) has strongly opposed the assurance of chief minister, N Biren Singh, to give extra 10 marks to those contractual COVID-19 healthcare workers during regular post recruitment.
Addressing media at Manipur Press Club on Saturday, president of AMCWA, Rajasana Sinam said that healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and MTS recruited on contractual basis during peak of COVID-19 pandemic seems to be completely devalued by the government.
The authorities concerned always praised them in words, acknowledging their dedication and service rendered during pandemic but practically, the authorities behaved very differently, he said.
Assuring to give 10 extra marks to contractual COVID-19 healthcare workers at the time of new regular post recruitment by N Biren Singh on Friday during the monsoon session of assembly is not acceptable at all, he said.
The contribution made by them during the critical period of pandemic is priceless and incomparable with 10 marks, Rajasana Sinam added.
While condemning the health minister for deciding to give their honorarium till March 16, he alleged that they had worked till March 25 of this year. On this day itself, the state government issued termination letter but they date back their order to March 16, he alleged.
The recruitment was carried out following all norms like DPC in presence of government nominees but they were not appointed in emergency, he added while stating that the state government should treat them in accordance to their dedication and how they had been recruited.
