After 83 days, three test positive for COVID-19 in Churachandpur

COVID-19 was detected in three persons of the 84 people tested by the authority concerned in Churachandpur on Thursday.

Churachandpur chief medical officer said that three new COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in the last 24 hours from the district for the first time since April 15 i.e. after 83 days.

The cases (1 male and 2 females) were detected after 84 people were tested by the authority concerned. At present, Churachandpur has no working isolation centres due to the absence of positive cases but a certain ward at the district hospital is being readied to meet any eventualities, as per sources.

The sources indicate that so far, as many as 1,22,302 people have been tested where 11,075 persons were tested positive, of which 182 people (121 males and 61 females) died of COVID-19 in the first wave, second wave and third wave in the district.

The sources said that the 78 Myanmar residents, who were recently arrested and under custody have undergone Covid tests and all turned out to be negative.

The Medical directorate has issued an order that testing will be done at Behiang and Sinzawl which are the Major towns or villages in the international and state boundary connecting Manipur through Churachandpur district.
