COVID-19 in India claimed 573 more lives across the country. With it, COVID-19 death toll in the country rose to 4,91,700, while 2,86,384 more COVID-19 positive cases pushed the cumulative number of COVID-19 active cases in India to 22,02,472, the Union Health Ministry said in its latest update.
India's total COVID-19 confirmed cases reached 4,03,71,500, with the highest positive cases reported from Maharashtra at 76,05,181, followed by Kerala at 57,74,857 cases and Karnataka at 36,54,413.
However, Karnataka has the highest total active cases of 3,57,939, followed by Maharashtra with 3,02,572 active cases and Kerala with 3,01,269 active cases.

In Northeast India, Assam continues to have the highest number of COVID-19 active cases - 37,410.followed by Mizoram and Tripura with 12,703 and 7,108 respectively. Manipur has 3,744 active cases currently, according to the state Health Services.
The country also reported 3,06,357 more recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,76,77,328.
Consequently, the recovery rate stood at 93.33 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is 19.59 per cent and the weekly positivity rate is 17.75 per cent.
Meanwhile, 14,62,261 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With it, 72.21 crore total tests have been conducted so far. As many as 163.84 cr vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
