Meitei-Mayek translation of the ‘Shri Shri Govindajigee Bhangee Pareng Manga Amasung Chali Pareng’, a book on the rhythmic beats of the Manipur musical instrument 'Pung' was released on Monday at the Manipur Dance and Music College, Imphal.
The original book was written by Ngangbam Biramangol in Manipuri-Bengali script and the translation was done by a junior lecturer of Manipur Dance and Music College Yumlembam Ibemhal.
Delivering the chief guest speech of the release function, joint director of Art and Culture K Dinamani said that the book will give a lot of benefits to the students of the younger generation.
Appealing to the dance and music teachers to document their ideas and knowledge in the form of booklets, he assured of providing financial assistance from the department of Arts and Culture in releasing such booklets.
Concerning the translated book, Ibemhal said that she did the translation work after witnessing that the younger generation are facing difficulties in reading the Bengali script.
The function was also attended by deputy director (programme) of Arts and Culture Gurumayum Dharmadas, teachers and students of the college.
