Guwahati will be hosting the Youth20 or Y20 inception meeting from February 6 to 8, Director General (North East Zone) PIB B Narayanan said. The Y20 curtain raiser event was held on January 6 in New Delhi.

Taking to Twitter, the director general said Youth20 is one of the "Engagement Groups" comprising non-government participants from each G20 member, which makes recommendations to G20 leaders and contributes to policy-making processes.

Youth20 (Y20), with its first Y20 conference held in 2012, provides a platform that allows youth to express their vision and ideas on the G20 priorities, and comes up with a series of recommendations which are submitted to the G20 Leaders.

The Youth20 inception meeting in Guwahati, Assam is likely to be inaugurated by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, who is also the Union Youth Affairs and Sports minister.

"The inception meeting of the #Youth20 Group is likely to be inaugurated by Union Minister @ianuragthakur in #Guwahati from 6th - 8th February. It'll be the first of various summits to be held on 5 Y20 themes at Universities across states  as a run-up to the final Youth-20 Summit," the director general said in another tweet.

Youth20 is one of the eight official engagement groups under the G20 umbrella. The others are Labour20, Parliament20, Science20, SAI20, Startup20, Think20 and Urban20.
