Clinical trial of prosthetic hands conducted in Assam

The RCWDAP stated that the clinical trial of prosthetic hands was a part of the MOU signed between RCWDAP and Tezpur University.

The Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons (RCWDAP), Manipur and Tezpur University, Assam on Thursday commenced clinical trials of the application of prosthetic hands, at the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Tezpur University.

In a statement, RCWDAP stated that the clinical trial was a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between RCWDAP and Tezpur University, witnessed by HOD of department of Community Medicine, RIMS Brogen Singh Akoijam.

The clinical trial on seven subjects were conducted under the supervision of Academic Study/Clinical Trial of EMG Controlled, Prosthetic Hand (Enrich) Embedded Systems and Robotics Laboratory, Tezpur University, Assam, and Innovation Hub Foundation for Robotics, Technology Innovation Hub IIT Delhi, DST, Government of India, it affirmed.

The MOU was signed in the presence of vice president of RCWDAP Lenin Hirom; project consultant of RCWDAP Bikram Mayengbam; along with registrar of Tezpur University Biren Das; Ph D scholar of department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Amlan Jyoti Kaliya; and M Tech student of department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Maibam Pooya Chanu, it added.
