All Kakching Farmers Welfare Association on Saturday organised a sit-in protest, demanding the authority to provide the farmers with urea, at the Central Public Hall of Kakching Yumbimacha High School.
Speaking on the occasion, a farmer Nongmaithem Chaoton accused the authority of making the farmers suffer with the scarcity and the price hike of urea, which is one the most essential components for paddy cultivation. He urged the authority to devise a mechanism to provide an abundant supply of the necessary components for cultivation.
In the protest, the attendees shouted slogans such as, ‘provide urea for the farmers’, ‘government should not sell urea’, ‘make urea available on shops’, and ‘remove these hassles for urea’.
