Manipur governor, chief minister and ministers have extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Janmashtami (Krishna Janma) that falls on August 30 (Monday).

Governor La Ganesan conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami and said: "The festival celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna and symbolises the divine richness of ‘Karmyoga’, the way to attain spiritual heights through a ceaseless effort to achieve excellence in one's work. Lord Krishna's universal message, as given to us through the Bhagavad Gita, has guided us through centuries to stand firm in the fight for truth and justice against all odds.

“On this festive day, let us remind ourselves of the teachings of Lord Krishna and work for promotion of peace, cooperation and mutual goodwill among all sections of our diverse society. Once again, I convey my warm greetings to all of you".

Chief Minister N Biren, conveying his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion, said that among the pantheon of Hindu gods that are worshipped by devotees through rituals and festivals, Janmashtami is a festival dedicated to the worshipping of Lord Krishna.

“As we celebrate this auspicious day, let us remember Lord Krishna's message of ‘Karmayoga’ which is a call to focus on our responsibilities rather than caring for rewards. This teaching is relevant to each one of us, irrespective of our profession or our standing in society. While celebrating the festival, we must maintain COVID appropriate behaviours and avoid social gathering to protect ourselves from the COVID-19 pandemic. May Lord Krishna bless us with good health, peace and prosperity,” said the CM.
