District and Sessions Judge, Imphal West Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, who is also the chairman of DLSA, Tamenglong, said that giving care and attention to senior citizens during the pandemic is of utmost importance.
He was speaking at the online awareness programme for para legal volunteers and Senior Citizens of Tamenglong organised by District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong organised on Saturday. The programme was organised on the topic ‘Mitigating Problems faced by Senior Citizens with primary focus on their wellbeing during Covid pandemic with active involvement of PLVs.’

“In order to get some relief during the pandemic, we have to help them by identifying those who are presently facing issues. We can help them through phone calls and by examining what their daily requirements are,” she said.
Mentioning that most of the elderly persons have been isolated during the pandemic, she said that para legal volunteers need to make the senior citizens understand about the pandemic by cooperating and helping them with their work.
“We have assisted them in fields like taking appointments for doctors or at other their requirements physically or through telephonic conversations. There are also various schemes that the government has launched and as para legal volunteers, we have to make them get the benefits of the schemes,” she added.
The programme was attended by judicial officers, PLVs, and senior citizens along with secretary DLSA, Tamenglong K Nirojit.
