Manipur's COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 9.7 per cent on Friday as cases of new infections decreased. The state recorded 311 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 1,12,666 while the death toll mounted to 1,770 with three more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department. The new cases included three security personnel.
Of the three COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Friday, two deaths were reported from Imphal East and one from Imphal West, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. It stated of the three deaths, two persons had co-morbidities and none of them were vaccinated.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 125 and 78 cases respectively. Thirty were from Bishnupur, 13 from Churachandpur, two from Kakching, four from Chandel, three from Kangpokpi, eight from Senapati, seven from Tamenglong, 22 from Thoubal, 18 from Ukhrul and one from Tengnoupal.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded new 418 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,07,410. The recovery rate is 95.33 per cent currently, the release added.
Manipur now has 3,486 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,334 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 326 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered the vaccine reached 15,03,839 (first dose: 11,81,800 and second dose: 3,22,093).
According to the release, there are 373 vacant general beds and 75 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur.

In Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 30 vacant general beds and 25 ICU/HDU beds; in Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 68 vacant general beds and 14 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 143 vacant general beds and 15 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 39 general beds and zero ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
