Meghalaya police arrested two more persons and recovered at least two country-made SBML guns from their possession bringing the total number of recent arrests to six.

On social media, West Garo Hills (WGH) police stated that the two persons were arrested and arms were recovered from them under Damalgre police station jurisdiction under South West Garo Hills.

The recovery, as per police sources, is part of the ongoing inquiry that has led to the arrest of 6 persons who were involved in criminal activities.

Last week, a huge amount of explosive materials were recovered from Ri Bhoi district in a joint operation between the two districts with 2 arrests being made.

Interrogation of the arrested accused led to the revelation of more members of the criminal gang and further arrests.

Police sources however discounted the formation of a new militant outfit, something that is being speculated by many.
