Postpone recruitment of constables, student bodies urge

The student bodies appealed to the state government to take necessary steps to ensure employment exchange are opened at the earliest.

A joint student body of Churachandpur have appealed to the director general of police and the state government to extend or postpone the date of recruitment for the posts of 260 police constables in Manipur Police department.

The students also expressed discontentment over the closure of employment exchange Churachandpur on Saturday when candidates for recruitment of police constable are required to submit application forms to the employment exchange by August 3.

The student bodies appealed to the state government to take necessary steps to ensure employment exchange are opened at the earliest.

The student bodies claimed that the district employment exchange remained closed on Saturday when the student bodies visited it on Saturday, and the employment exchange Churachandpur has been closed and non functional since a total curfew was imposed on July 18.  

“The utter negligence, incompetence and shabbily mishandling of the situation on the part of the government caused many aspirants of the district unable to submit their application forms on time,” the release stated.

It further stated that the director general of police, Manipur in its circular dated July 14 notified recruitment for the post of 260 police constables (male/civil) in Manipur Police department.
