Manipur on Wednesday reported 1,003 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 95,824, while the death toll crossed 1500-mark with 12 more fatalities, official sources said.
As per the latest update from the state health department, a total of 7,275 test results were received on Wednesday, of which 1,003 were found positive for COVID-19.
The new COVID-19 positive cases included 264 from Imphal West, 221 from Imphal East, 176 from Bishnupur, 90 from Churachandpur, 48 from Thoubal, 45 from Kakching, 36 each from Kangpokpi and Noney, 31 from Tamenglong, 25 from Chandel, 11 from Ukhrul, nine from Senapati, five from Kamjong, three from Jiribam, and one each from Pherzawl and Tengnoupal. The two other new positive cases are personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Of the 12 deaths recorded in the state on Wednesday, six deaths were from Imphal West, two each from Imphal East and Thoubal, and one each from Kakching and Kangpokpi. Nine of the 12 COVID-19 victims had co-morbidities, while only three of them were vaccinated with the first dose, as per the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee. With these 12 fatalities, the death toll surged to 1,510.
Manipur also saw 872 new recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 83,392. The recovery rate is 87.02 per cent.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,251 D-type oxygen cylinders and 352 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, the release stated.
It further added that the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur is 12,52,408 ( First dose: 10,66,680 and second dose: 1,85,2780) as of Wednesday.
