Manipur’s COVID-19 confirmed caseload surged 92,667 with 1,207 new positive cases, while the death toll mounted to 1,478 with 13 more fatalities as of Sunday, official sources said.
Of the 8,327 test results received on Sunday, 325 positive results were from Imphal West, 294 from Imphal East, 106 from Thoubal, 105 from Churachandpur, 99 from Bishnupur, 58 from Kakching, 54 from Kangpokpi, 44 from Chandel, 40 from Tamenglong, 28 from Noney, 17 from Tengnoupal, 14 each from Jiribam, 11 from Ukhrul, four from Kamjong, three from Senapati, and one from Pherzawl. Four are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Of the 13 deaths recorded on Sunday, three were from Imphal West, two each from Chandel, Thoubal and Kakching, while one death each was reported from Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal East and Pherzawl, according to the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee. Of the 13 deaths, seven persons had comorbidities, It stated that only five of the victims were vaccinated with the first dose.
Sunday saw 864 new recoveries, pushing the cumulative number of recovered cases to 80,608 and the recovery rate stands at 86.98 per cent, the release added.
It further added that a total of 2,221 D-type oxygen cylinders and 395 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 11,94,736 (first dose: 10,29,436 and second dose: 1,65,300), as per the latest updates.
