Meghalaya COVID-19 death toll climbs to 926 with five more deaths

East Khasi Hills reported four COVID-19 deaths and one from West Khasi Hills district on Thursday

Meghalaya on Thursday recorded five COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 926 in the state.

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from West Khasi Hills district.

He said the state also detected 412 new cases. These include 101 in East Khasi Hills, 90 West Garo Hills, 72 Ri Bhoi, 36 West Jaintia Hills, 28 East Garo Hills, 16 West Khasi Hills, 16 South West Garo Hills, 12 North Garo Hills, 9 East Jaintia Hills and 7 South Garo Hills.

Dr War also informed that 338 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

Of these, 129 are from Ri Bhoi,  70 East Khasi Hills, 40 West Jaintia Hills, 39 West Khasi Hills, 18 West Garo Hills, 13 East Jaintia Hills, 10 South West Khasi Hills, 8 East Garo Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills, 4 North Garo Hills and 2 South Garo Hills.

So far, the state has detected a total of 56,052 COVID-19 cases out of which 3,994 are active cases, 51,132 recovered and 926 deaths.

With 1,106 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 692 cases and West Garo Hills with 769 cases.

There are 484 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 205 West Khasi Hills, 172 North Garo Hills, 153 East Garo Hills, 130 South West Khasi Hills, 99 East Jaintia Hills, 97 South Garo Hills and 87 South West Garo Hills.
