Manipur reports 1,039 new COVID-19 positive cases, tally crosses 81000-mark
Manipur has also registered 14 deaths in a span of 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,340.

Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Thursday crossed 81000-mark as over 1,000 new coronavirus positive cases were reported in the state in a span of 24 hours, official sources said.

A total of 7,056 test results were received on Thursday of which 1,039 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received so far is 9,82,099, the sources said.

With 1,039 new positive cases, the state's COVID-19 tally surged to 81,560 and the number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 8,558 as of Wednesday, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to record the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases with 289 and 270 cases respectively. Ninety-eight new COVID-19 cases were from Churachandpur, 94 from Bishnupur, 85 from Kakching, 72 from Thoubal, 44 from Tamenglong, 26 from Noney, 23 from Chandel, 15 from Senapati, 12 from Kangpokpi, five from Kamjong, four from Tengnoupal, and one each from Pherzawl and Ukhrul, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

Along with the new positive cases on Thursday, Manipur has also registered 14 deaths in a span of 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,340, the release added.

Imphal West reported five deaths, Bishnupur and Churachandpur three deaths each, Kangpokpi two death, while Kakching and Pherzawl reported one death each, as per the release.

Wednesday saw 677 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries to 71,662 till date and the recovery rate is 87.86 per cent, it stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,780 D-type oxygen cylinders and 390 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 9,55,923 (First dose: 8,52,179 and Second dose: 1,03,744)
