Manipur’s COVID-19 confirmed tally crossed 73000-mark with a sudden surge of 863 new COVID-19 positive cases, the death toll also rose to 1218 with 14 more deaths reported on Tuesday, official sources said.
On Monday, the state reported 432 daily COVID-19 positive cases and eight deaths due to the disease.
As per the latest update from the state, the total COVID-19 test results received on Tuesday was 5,069. The 863 new positive cases included 25 personnel of the Central Reserved Police Force and pushed the state’s total confirmed caseload to 73,581.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report highest daily positive cases with 298 and 125 respectively, followed by Kakching with 96 and Churachandpur and Bishnupur with 73 each.
As many as 71 new COVID-19 positive cases are from Thoubal, 27 from tengnoupal, 16 each from Jiribam, Tamenglong and Chandel, 15 each from Ukhrul and Noney, nine each from Senapati and Kangpokpi, three from Pherzawl and one from Kamjong.
According to the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, Bishnupur reported one death, Imphal East - five, Imphal West – two, Kangpokpi – two and Thoubal – four deaths.
Meanwhile, 592 more patients reported recovered as of Tuesday. The total number of recoveries reached 66,132 while the total number of active cases stood at 6,231. The reovery rate moved to 89.87 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1967 D-type oxygen cylinders and 495 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the state.
As of Tuesday, 30,476 people across the state have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine.
Any person with oxygen level (SPO2) below 94 per cent have been advised to seek medical advice immediately or shift to Covid Care Centre, helpline numbers – Covid Control room number 1800-345-3818. Home isolation helpline number is 0385- 2441230, 2441231, the release from the state Covid-19 Common Control Room stated.
