Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi has been appointed as the new president of the Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party.
National secretary and headquarter incharge BJP, Arun Singh on Saturday issued an appointment letter stating that BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Sharda Devi as the new president of Manipur BJP with immediate effect.
The post of BJP Manipur Pradesh president has been lying vacant after the death of former president S Tikendra Singh due to COVID-19 complications.
Meanwhile, expressing hope that the party will be able to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur through the leadership of Sharda Devi, Chief Minister N Biren Singh congratulated the new BJP president.
"Congratulations Smt. Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi Ji on having appointed as President of BJP Manipur Pradesh. Under your abled leadership, the party will be able to achieve greater heights and fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur," CM Biren tweeted.
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, who is also in-charge of Manipur, also congratulated Devi for the appointment and extended his best wishes.

Works Minister Th Biswajit also tweeted, "Congratulations to Smt #A_Sharda_Devi ji for being appointed as the President of @BJP4Manipur Pradesh. Your experiences, will and perseverance is surely going to be beneficial for BJP in Manipur."
