In a tragic incident on Monday, two siblings drowned in Khuga River near Uyungmakhong under Bishnupur district after their boat capsized due to strong currents in the river.
The incident took place at around 5 am when three siblings were on their way to a paddy field located near a foothill.
Although the youngest and the eldest sibling could not be saved, the middle child survived the incident.
The two deceased siblings are identified as L Solomon,17, and L Joshowa ,13, both sons of Laishram Chandrakumar from Kumbi Uyung makhong.
The last rites for the deceased siblings were carried out as per traditions.
