Manipur on Sunday recorded 767 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 44,089, while the death toll mounted to 688 with 14 more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state Health department.
Of the 14 COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Sunday, six deaths were reported from Imphal West. Imphal East reported three fatalities, Churachandpur reported two deaths while Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal reported one death each, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 320 and 182 cases respectively. Seventy-one cases were reported from Churachandpur, 50 from Thoubal, 44 from Kakching, 38 from Bishnupur, 17 from Ukhrul, 13 from Senapati, nine each from Tamenglong and Kangpokpi, five from Jiribam, four from Chandel, three from Kamjong and two from Noney, the release stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The state also recorded 609 new recoveries in a span of 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 36867. The recovery rate is 83.61 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 6,534 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release. It further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on May 21, 2021 by 6E -6354 in rows 24-35 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective district surveillance officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Meanwhile, a total of 1293 D-type oxygen cylinders and 542 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours. As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been inoculated reached 3,45,615.
