Miscreants allegedly vandalised a roller and a premix machine of Manipur Steel Industry India Limited by putting salt in the fuel tanks of both machines which are used in the ongoing repair work of National Highway-37 which passes through Jiribam district.

The act came to notice on Monday when workers arrived in the morning to commence road repairments at Chandrapur village after completion of black-topping at Babupara the day before.

Speaking to the Imphal Free Press, project engineer of Manipur Steel Industry India Limited Hijam Saratchandra said that he has no idea of who the culprits were and the reason for vandalising the machines.

“Are there people who are against development and progress for the welfare of the public?” Saratchandra enquired and further made an appeal for public support in the development work of roads. He requested the locals to keep a watchful eye that no such incident occurs again.
