A record single-day spike of 433 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed Manipur's COVID-19 infection tally to 32,956 on Tuesday. This is the state's highest single-day spike of COVID-19 positive cases since January, 2021, according to the latest update from the state health department.
Manipur also recorded two COVID-19 death cases, one each from Bishnupur and Thoubal in 24 hours, taking the death toll to 424, it added.
The new COVID-19 positive cases on included 183 from Imphal West, 108 from Imphal East, 42 from Churachandpur, 35 from Kakching, 26 from Bishnupur, 17 from Thoubal, six from Tamenglong, five from Ukhrul, three from Senapati, two from Kamjong, and one each from Tengnoupal and Kangpokpi. The other new positive case is a personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional director and spokesperson, Manipur Health Department, stated in the release.
With the new positive cases, the number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur surged to 2,391.
The state also recorded 111 new recoveries on Tuesday, pushing the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases to 30,141, However, the state's recovery rate fell to 91.45 per cent from Monday's 92.33 per cent, the release stated.
Meanwhile, a total of 659 D type oxygen cylinders and 176 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of the state, the release added.
The release further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on May 2 by Indigo flight 6181 in rows 11-17 to inform the Common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.
As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state reached 22,1,983.
