Investors at Salai Group of Companies stormed its office located at Tera Bazar on Friday morning at around 10 am with the demand to return their deposited money.
After Narengbam Samarjit was remanded into 13 days NIA custody by the court, the investors staged a protest in front of Salai office and demanded to arrange a meeting with the managing directors of Salai Group of Companies.
Investors were divided and stormed different offices of Salai located at Sayang Road and one group marched towards Khagempalli. Some of the investors proceeded towards the residence of managing director Elangbam Brojen at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai. Police stopped the protesting investors at Khagempalli and a confrontation took place between the investors and police. The police team fired smoke bombs to disperse the mob.
Elangbam Brojendro was forced to give a statement using a loudspeaker by the investors. Brojendro through loudspeaker announced that the company is still left with no choice but to stop all activities. He said that the NIA had seized all the bank accounts and all offices of Salai have stopped functioning. He and his team are ready to hand over everything that belongs to Salai to the public and for that, the government can auction the properties for the return of the depositors’ money, he added.
After his statement, the police team suddenly picked him up along with accused Akoijam Deepa Anand and another member Shamson of Salai group of company.
It may be mentioned that the NIA had filed a charge sheet against Yamben Biren and Narengbam Samarjit Singh and their associates Narengbam Biswajit Singh, Elangbam Brojendro Singh and Akoijam Deepa Anand under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
