COVID-19: Is India flattening the curve?

While it may be too soon to say as India continued to report 10,000 new Covid-19 cases for the fifth day in a row, the countrywide tally in the past few days has been showing a downward curve.

Is India flattening the curve in Covid-19 spread? While it may be too soon to say, the countrywide tally in the past few days has been showing a downward curve after the sudden spike in coronavirus positive cases daily.

As of Tuesday morning since Monday, the country recorded 10,667 more coronavirus positive cases. With it, the country has reported 10,000 COVID-19 new cases for the fifth day in a row, taking the total number of positive cases to 3,43,091 so far.

However, the number of new COVID-19 cases countrywide has been falling below 11,000 mark in the last few days.

On June 13, the countrywide number of new Covid-19 cases reported was 12,023. On June 14, the tally was 11,157 positive cases and on June 15, 10,243 new cases were reported.

The active case tally has also decreased. On Sunday, the active case tally stood at 11,157 while on Monday it was 10,243.

Although the cumulative number of death has surged to 9,900 with 380 new fatalities as per the Health and Family Welfare Ministry reports, it may be mentioned that a total of 180,012 has been cured and discharged

According to the official data, of the 380 new deaths reported from across the country, Maharashtra recorded the highest at 178 followed by Delhi at 73, Tamil Nadu 44, Gujarat 28, Haryana 12, West Bengal 10, Rajasthan nine and Madhya Pradesh six. Andhra Pradesh and Punjab reported four deaths each, Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka three each, Telangana two and Bihar, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala reported one death each.

Meanwhile, the number of countrywide active cases stands at 1,53,178, while 1,80,012 people have recovered and one patient has migrated, according to the official updates.
