The Tamei-Dikhuiram road in Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district was inaugurated as ‘People’s Effort’ road on Tuesday by IGAR (East) SM Vishisht Sewa Medal Major General Ranjit Singh during his visit to Tamenglong and dedicated to the locals of the area.

In absence of government assistance to repair the Tamei-Dikhuiram road which connects many far flung villages both in Manipur and Nagaland, the 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sect AR, IGAR (EAST) took the initiative and started repairing the link road. The repair work started on October 12, 2020 and was completed on January 4, 2021 taking 85 days to complete the repair of the 22 km stretch of the road.

With the newly repaired ‘People’s Effort’ road, the villagers will have access to better education, health, employment, government developmental schemes and markets for self-reliance opportunities.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Major General Ranjit Singh asserted people to be self-sustained, acquire professional skills and contribute constructively in the nation's development.

The enthusiastic villagers performed songs and dance to express their happiness over what they have achieved together with the security forces in the area.
